Homeless Refuge Project

ECS have been commissioned on a new project to provide a homeless refuge in Ashton-under -Lyne.

As part of a joint stakeholder project with Tameside Council and Salford Diocese, St Ann’s Church/Primary School in Ashton is to be converted into short stay residential accommodation whilst also providing a community facility. The refurbishment works will include boiler replacement and a new commercial kitchen.

The ground floor of the building will become a Community Hub, including a café where anyone can attend, have a meal and carry out volunteer work. Staffed day and night with skilled people who are able to engage with the rough sleeping community and offer whatever support is needed, residents of the ABEN service (The Mayor of Manchester Andy Burnham’s ‘A Bed Every Night’ scheme) will be welcome to spend the day there, receive support and address any ongoing welfare needs.
