Summary

This exciting opportunity for a candidate who shares our passion will be a mixture of job training (four days per week) whilst studying for a B.Eng Degree in Building Services and Sustainable Engineering (one day per week). You will assist in the design of mechanical and electrical systems as part of your position working.

Annual wage

£20,800 a year

Six monthly salary increase private pension, extra leave for student conference.

Four days per week in the ECS office with working hours Monday – Thursday, 8.00am – 5.00pm with 30 minute lunch and Friday, 8.30am – 3.00pm with 30 minute lunch. One day per week will be spent at University.

Work

As an apprentice, you’ll work at a company and get hands-on experience. You’ll gain new skills and work alongside experienced staff.

  • Production of REVIT drawings
  • Undertake site surveys
  • Attend Design Team meetings
  • Attend Project meetings

Course contents

  • Apply engineering principles to solve broadly defined engineering problems and contribute to continuous improvement: scientific, theoretical, and technical principles.
  • Apply building services engineering techniques, procedures and methods, review and evaluate the results, including when measuring and testing, designing, installing, commissioning, maintaining or operating building services engineering systems or improving the performance of building services engineering components and systems.
  • Employ mathematical, statistical and data interpretation tools, using analytical and computational methods, and apply an integrated or systems-based approach.
  • Identify, interpret, and compare information in relation to materials, components or parts used in building services engineering.
  • Research, collect, select and evaluate technical literature and other sources of data and information to address, analyse and evaluate building services engineering problems.
  • Produce building services engineering technical solutions in accordance with relevant industry standards, policies, codes of practice, regulations, and legislation.
  • Select and apply computational and analytical techniques to model building services engineering problems, recognising the limitations of the techniques employed.
  • Contribute to the design, development and implementation of building services engineering solutions, and evaluate their effectiveness in the context of the whole project life cycle.
  • Manage and comply with statutory health, safety and welfare policies, procedures and regulation, and contribute to improvements in health, safety and welfare, within their own area of responsibility.
  • Complete risk assessments to identify, evaluate, manage and mitigate risks.
  • Apply principles of sustainable development and evaluate their effectiveness on the whole project lifecycle of building services engineering solutions.
  • Manage engineering activities that contribute to sustainable development and the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs).
  • Apply project management techniques, identifying, measuring, recording and reporting progress against building services engineering project performance criteria.
  • Manage quality processes and contribute to quality improvements.
  • Plans and manages resources, equipment and technology, to meet project requirements, specifications, costs and budgets and timescales, with an appreciation of statutory and commercial arrangements.
  • Monitor and manage individual performance, and the input of others, recognising the need to adapt to, and communicate, changing demands.
  • Comply with appropriate codes of practice and equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) requirements.
  • Communicate in verbal and written contexts using appropriate methods for the audience. Use appropriate engineering terminology and conventions.

Your training plan

  • The successful candidate will be enrolled on the ‘Building Services and Sustainable Engineering’ course at the University of Central Lancashire
  • The course will take place one day per week at the Preston campus (with four days spent within the company office) and will earn the candidate a B.Eng (Hons) degree

Requirements

Minimum qualifications

  • A-Level: BBC including Maths and other science subject (such as physics, chemistry, further maths). General Studies accepted
  • BTEC Extended Diploma: Distinction, Merit, Merit
  • BTEC Diploma: Distinction*, Distinction*(to include Maths module).
  • International Baccalaureate Diploma: 28P including grade HL5 in Maths
  • GCSE: Maths & English C or equivalent
  • Mature students with relevant work and experiential learning will be considered by interview
  • For entry with advanced standing: – HNC in Building Services or an appropriate technological subject with give RPL for up to 3 modules (depending on the subject). – HND in Building Services or an appropriate technological subject with give RPL for up to 6 modules (depending on the subject).

Other requirements

cAD/REVIT Lead Engineer / Team Coordinator   Building Services Engineering Consultancy

Summary

This exciting opportunity for a candidate who shares our passion in Building Services. We are looking for a new REVIT CAD Team Leader / Co-ordinator –

Principal Duties

  1. Undertake the management of all CAD and REVIT drawing systems
  2. Undertake the management of staff in the production of drawings to meet the
    priorities and demands of the business
  3. Production of CAD and REVIT drawings.
  4. Develop and be responsible for ECS drawing procedures
  5. Address any issues with the production of drawings by others
  6. Liaise with clients and other related professionals when attending meetings
    at ECS Consultants offices or on site.
  7. Train and develop staff using Revit and Auto Cad Systems
  8. Undertake training reviews with apprentices
  9. Attend management meetings
  10. Liaise with Engineers in the production of drawings
  11. Develop standard drawing details and the set-up of drawings
  12. Undertake survey work relating to site co ordination
  13. Operating computer systems and associated software.
  14. Operating Microsoft outlook e-mail system.
  15. Production of Microsoft word documents.
  16. Operate in line with ECS ISO 9001 System
  17. Undertake duties aligned to ECS Consultants Core values, ISO140001 and
