TV & the Arts

ITV Television Centre, Leeds

This project involved the refurbishment of ITV Television Centre, Leeds, to provide support facilities for their production studios.

The scheme included the make-up department, costume facilities, editing suites, Green room, restaurant, commercial kitchen, reception, dressing rooms and administration offices.

These back-of-house areas were key to the overall production process. ECS dealt directly with ITV Production staff regarding specific requirements, including demanding acoustic and lighting criteria within the editing suites and the connectivity of these suites to the primary control facilities.

Within make-up areas, specific requirements were translated and met in relation to lamp colour temperature.
The overall scheme also included a re-design of the existing dual duct ventilation system and the inclusion of new fan coil units from the technologically complex boiler and chiller plant.

The back-of-house areas were all completed at the same time as the studio upgrades, enabling a completely seamless transfer and zero loss of production time.
